Chickens, Lawyers, a Sawmill, and a Crane

We started letting our chickens free range last week. They are hilarious to watch.

For some reason our chickens never go into the coop at night to sleep. They always roost together on top of the coop.
For some reason that one chicken wanted to be in between those other two, so he wedged his way in. (shortly after this picture that chicken on the end fell off the coop)

This is the contraption that I designed and built. To our great surprise it actually worked as intended. (even after we dropped it twice and cracked one of the supports while putting it together.) The blade on the sawmill only cuts 8 in deep. We need 4x12s so we have to cut 6 in on one side, then spin the engine around and cut 6 or 7in on the other side.  Using the lift with a come-along beats the heck out of trying to   spin the engine (which weighs a ton!) by hand. We did it once and that was the last time we will do it by hand.

This is a beautiful crane that we saw by the creek at the bottom of our driveway Sunday. We saw it two Saturdays ago but I didn't have my camera with me at the time.

I got a "big foot" style picture of it flying away.

I didn't get the job that I interviewed for, but there is still several other jobs that I'm pursuing, we'll see what happens.

I have gotten three letters from lawyers since I got my speeding ticket last Wednesday. I have decided that I can't afford to have my insurance go up 90 to 150%, I also can't afford a lawyer. And since all the evidence is against me and I have nothing to argue, I'm gathering information and will appear in court to try to avoid getting points against my license and insurance instead of fighting the ticket head on. I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve, I'm sure that one of them will work....let's hope :)

The ladies from our church went out to dinner to celebrate my moms birthday and Emily Brook's birthday.

  1. Those chickens are gorgeous! They do love to roost... hopefully a predator doesn't get 'em!
Did you hear about our chicks on the way?!?
Trust in God. He'll give you the words to say in court.

That's really cool. If you guys get more chicks than you want or need we have room for a few more ;)
